The Flame Nebula - NGC 2024 (Dec2021-Jan2022)

MarsG76

A emission nebula in Orion 1350LY away known as the "Flame" Nebula (NGC 2024)... image reprocessed from my old data taken in December 2021 and January 2022.

This object would have been perfect for such a short exposure time at this f-ratio if not for the reflection rings caused by the bright star, "Alnitak" reflecting of the corrector plate... as are very obviously visible here and were bright enough to be distracting in my first version photo of the "Flame".

This image is a compilation of the channels which had the least amount of reflections visible, in this case the channels were the luminance, red, green and Hydrogen Beta used as blue.

The data for this image was exposed on multiple nights between 14th December 2021 and 28th January 2022.
The total integration time for the signal used in this photo Luminance, Red, Green and H-Beta was 6 hours and 20 minutes.

Image taken through a Celestron 8" SCT at f10 (2032mm focal length) using a QHY268M astronomy camera on a CGEM mount.
