Hello everyone, 

Very new to astronomy after years of watching YouTube videos all about it, glad to finally be involved myself! My equipment isn't anything crazy, SkyWatcher Heritage 130P, couple BST StarGuider EPs and a barlow, but that keeps me happy for now.

I lived in Woodley for 30+ years and enjoyed the astronomy for my back garden or out to Dinton Pastures or Silcot for slightly darker skies. Reading has an active Astro soc as does Maidenhead I'm sure you would be welcome either.

I have friends in Shinfield area who seem to enjoy clear skies when the rest of us are clouded 🙂

@GeorgeP welcome to SGL. I live just south of you in North Hampshire. As far as Astro societies go Basingstoke also has an active one.

I have been thinking of getting over to Bucklebury Common, only 20 min drive for me and apparently Bortle 4 as opposed to my Bortle 6 near the centre of Reading! Either of you been there before?

You might want to check with Newbury Astro Soc as they have an observing site around there. Part of a nature Reserve I think and possibly on the Kennet & Avon canal ?
