What did i just see?

Just been having a quick peak at pleiades open cluster with my scope on a very wide feild low mag view and seen a object like a star fly through it leaving no trail and extremely fast.....

Using the directional controls on my goto I followed it right across the sky for around a minute and it didn't seem to loose any sort of glow and left no trail

Plenty of satellites around, this one going through the middle at 8:57pm

Yes, satellites can give you quite a start if you are concentrating hard on some faint object when suddenly a bright flash whizzes through the eyepiece!

No such luck down here. Been set up since 17:30. Had a few brief clear spells that lasted mere minutes so far.

As already said, probably a satellite passing through.

As Guy, posting above will confirm, the area around M45 is also good for spotting asteroids, although these are more easily found in staggered photographic  exposures, unless you are looking for a particular object and know its whereabouts.

The time of the observation fits perfectly with stus reply.... So it was most definitely the globalstar m062 satellite .

its was great to watch it wizzing past and caught me by surprise, thanks for all your replies.
