I know you have bemoaned the resultant reddish colour of dust in your images surely this M42 will reassure you of your ability to coax out the browns .  Excellent work Olly - a really balanced image with large scale features and the detail within the nebula all working together with varying tone, palette and contrast.  Super.

Terrific image Olly   The equipment helps but in the end it's the location, and the processing helps as well, of course.  I may well have some of the least light polluted sky in the UK but that doesn't help when the weather doesn't play ball!!
