Collected a new (second hand) scope Friday.

It is a hand build 18" F4.76 dob.

Nichol optics 1/6 wave mirror.

Heated secondary, finder & telrad.

Sets up in 15 mins & fits in a Corsa.

Well pleased & looking forward to fist light.

Congrats on joining the truss tribe... 18" is a fantastic size for hoovering up the cosmos!...a scope like that would look well at Dobfest !!!

Wall to wall cloud here in Norfolk & likely to be around for some time. It was on ABS but also the seller was a good friend of an observing buddy of mine.

Thanks Luke. I think my scope collection's is now complete but probably require a couple more eyepieces. Ethos out of the question as I'm now broke but very happy.

Clever how the cut out supplies edge support. Never thought of doing that, simple but effective me thinks.

Do you have a shroud for it?

Because of the unusual mirror box a friend is designing a shroud for me.

Had my shroud custom made by my friends wife yesterday.  She did a really good job.

Looking forward to the next moonless clear night from a dark sky site.

Now I am excited.

Thanks Stu. I am still pinching myself & can't wait to use it. My friend who knows the builder recommended it & it has far exceeded my expectations. Particularly it's portability & ease of setting up.

My local astro club is about 30 mins away  & pretty dark, but I am waiting until around 12 Dec when the moon is not up till late. I now have to be patient & optimistic on the weather. 

Also what to look at first as I have a lot more choices.
