That is certainly a must. I have recently got fascinated with trying for the fleas near NGC 7331. Only managed to see two with the 12" but only with averted vision & on one occasion of many tries.

One of my observing buddies has an 18 & 24"  & has said the same. The waiting is driving me nuts. It may be clear tomorrow but the moon is full & I think I should only use it under fully dark skies.

Also what to look at first as I have a lot more choices.

Take a trip around the dipper bowl. more galaxies than you can shake a stick at with a big dob.
