Hi :-)

I'm actually from Montreal but out of town in northern canada for work. I'm living a really nice adventure right now and the arctic cold is not so bad with the right gear.

I'm simply a sky lover.

I've been given my first scope at christmas a long time ago and used it until last year when i bought my first real scope, a Celestron 8SE.

Montreal being a whiter than white zone, i didn't had many opportunities to see stunning stuff but I take the scope out as often has possible even to look the same targets again and again; luna, m42, jupiter, saturn.

Right now it's middle of winter here in Yellowknife so having a night with the scope out is a no no and anyway all my gear is at home. But going for some Aurora observation is totally fine, stunning, magic :-)

On christmas holydays, I tried giving a first try at astrophoto with the 8SE. Unguiged, alt/az mount and only 2 minutes of total exposure (because it was so cold at -15 celcius) but I'm pretty happy with it. This was taken from my balcony:

I liked it so much that right now, while being away from home, I'm really planning a scope & mount upgrade but this will be for another post ;)

Hi Daniel and welcome to the forum. You are right about the clothes, Sir Ranulph Fiennes once said, "that there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothing". :grin: Glad you took the time to join us here and there is plenty of knowledge and experience here to share with you as and when you need it.
