HI Steve and welcome to the forum. You've come to right place for information and guidance as we've all been in the same position. One thing that will certainly make any advice relevant is deciding on a budget. Scopes today are cheaper to buy than they have every been which is good news, although there will always be a need to balance between spending enough to help stimulate your interest whilst avoid spending too little and end up with something that will need replacing very quickly. Post your enquiry over on the 'Beginners Help and Advice' section and you will definitely get a lot of help with suggestions on what will be the best scope to get.

Hi and welcome,"to investigate and research" gret plan do not rush out o buy one,the advice you will get is going to be 150p or 200p reflector ,this may not be for you gt to a local club meting as there will be every scope shape and size,pluss you can have a look ,but before you get a scope can you look up and names of constellation s,it may seem [removed word] but the biggest trap is getting the scope and spending the next six months try to f ind things get some good star atlas have fun and do not rush out at the min
