Howdy from Gainesville, Florida

Hi, I thought I'd check in. I've actually had a telescope for almost 20 years, when I bought a 6-inch Orion Deep Space Explorer (the precursor to their XT line) between freshman and sophomore years of college. It got used when I visited the parents on breaks, but despite following me on various moves all over the US, it didn't get used again until six months ago. That's when I noticed that I had a small patch of sky that wasn't marred by looking directly into streetlights. I pulled out my scope, looked at Jupiter, and have been restoring and modifying (it turns out wood filler does a good job filling mistake holes in Sonotube) and observing ever since. My only regret is that I can't see the faint fuzzies like I could at my parents' house in the country.
