I,m a total newbie to star gazing, and have had my 80mm f7 achromatic refractor scope for 2 weeks. During that time i,v been out almost every night in my back garden star gazing, I'm totally hooked! but i wish someone could have warned me about this strange need to keep buying new things for this new hobby.

I started with one eye piece, now i have three. then a TAL 2xbarlow (great) rigel quickfinder , a huge improvement in usability, and finally a new 501 manfrotto head for my tripod which is a vast improvement .

I,m just waiting for a Baader semi apo filter to arrive in the post, which i,m really looking forward to trying.

Now I'm looking at a 10" reflector

Great hobby but its emptying my pockets!

Hi and welcome to the forum. Astronomy can be very seductive on the the kit front - just hope you're not interested in astrophotography because the first image of a black hole will be the one in your wallet!;)

Clear skies
