Hi all, just to introduce myself. Only been observing a few weeks but already hooked! My online name is my amateur radio callsign>

I have a Skymax 127 on an EQ3-2 mount (which I'm just learning to use!) and a 130P on a Goto mount (which I have nearly mastered!). I've never known so many cloudy nights in my life, and now realise why one is wished 'clear skies'! I enjoy the banter of the East Midlands Stargazers and look forward to joining in.

Yes..! but that does include partially cloudy as well.. You have to take what you can get huh...

Dark sites..Well in fairness to a lot of the folks here we have it pretty good really. Have a look on this site need-less light pollution and scroll down to the Night Sky Simulator..

But yeah it is always good to get darker... I would imagine that for you heading out towards Woodhall would be good.. It is then a case of getting permission somewhere that is relatively secure so you don't get pestered. You could maybe find a farmer who would be happy to help if you present your case well....

Hi, got a vertical but no beam! Restricted antenna as I live on an RAF base. But enjoy 14 and 21m when I can (If I'm not out with a telescope!!
