  1. Hmmm, tail the log….?. You are talking to a Linux dummy here….😂
  2. It is an excellent mount, but don’t expect much difference from the older version, other than the built in hub, and better clutch levers, it’s pretty much the same, but still a very good mount as is the older one…backlash issue is the same too, but not much of an issue really…and can be adjusted out if needed…enjoy when it finally arrives…👍🏼
  3. I cant move to windows, as INdI still needs to run on the RPI…🤔
  4. It sounds like you have experience with BT adapters, is there any downside to using over the cable, like any lag or delays with signal..?? I have tried but not actually used one in anger….
  5. Yes, that is with PL chipsets, all mine are FTDI….👍🏼
  6. I have two cheapo ones, and a Lynx one from FLO, same with all…
  7. yes done this, works and reports in windows…but not on RPI with latest kernel and latest INdI, there is no response there at all
  8. The really odd thing is that the INdI developer, says I am the only person he knows of to have this issue, yet there are many people using the Skywatcher mounts with EQMOD and INdI… He tried a piece of software on my RPI that tested the serial port, and there was a “no response” from the mount, so he says it’s not INdI related…..🤔🤔 yet similar software on windows gets a responds just fine…
  9. Thanks very much. This is what I thought, but not being of electrical mind, I needed some reassurance, it does work fine in NINA with all three of the cables, and I was considering a new board for the mount, but at £160, it was an expensive risk, which may not have made any difference… So when INdI tries to connect to the mount it sends a serial command to the mount and expects a reply, and this is not happening…is this correct, so I assume windows works in a similar way, so it’s not possible that it’s even a misaligned pin in the handset port on the mount could be the issue, as would be the same on all platforms… So the main thing is the mount is fine…
  10. I have an ongoing issue, in that my six year old EQ8 mount will not work with EQMOD on INdI, now it used to work fine last year, but with that same version I was using then right up to the latest version it just will not connect. It does not seem to see or respond to any serial commands, now what is really odd, is that it works perfectly fine on INdI with a Bluetooth EQMOD adapter and with the handset, and also even more weird is that is works perfectly fine on windows with the three EQMOD cables that I own…but nothing on INdI with any of the cables. I have tried many many things as help on the INdI forum suggested, but still not good, I tired ditching the RPI for an Intel NUC with Ubuntu, still the same, so everything on my set up has been changed bar the mount, but as it works fine on windows, could the mount really be the issue…???? Any ideas from and INdI users…👍🏼
  11. Yes, you just use a USB 3 to ethernet adapter…cheap enough…👍🏼
  12. Well I have e to say, you old laptop is still better spec than the one I currently use, it looks plenty good enough to me TBH…👍🏼
  13. It’s a 5x5 discontinued model from B&Q, it’s 20mm T&G wood…👍🏼
  14. This was my hinged roof idea, and it works well, for a total cost of £450 inc the shed…
  15. I just done mine on my freelander 2…. so good luck…👍🏼
  16. @malc-cWhat's needed is an application that has EQMOD built in, PHD2 built in, an imaging section like APT / BYEOS / MAXIM / PIXINSIGHT, and a planetarium option built in rather then having them as linked standalone applications. Or have them as services that run in the background, but configurable through the one application. There is one, buts it’s Linux based and called Kstars…uses indi drivers and Ekos is the imaging and control, section section…..👍🏼
  17. You won’t need instructions, it’s all pretty self explanatory in the software, there is one 12v port that can be voltage adjustable, just be careful not to forget what you have it set on and plug into the wrong device….it has been done…😮👍🏼
  18. Yes, I think SGP need to up there game to compete with the FREE NINA software…👍🏼
  19. The short answer is no, APT does not have native support for most CCD cameras, just Ascom support so that driver is needed… But you could use it in Stellarmate or Astroberry On and RPI with Kstars and INdI….🤔🤔
  20. I use this one and find it as good if not better than GX https://www.prodigitalsoftware.com/AstroFlatPro1_News.html
  21. So, this may be a stupid question, but how it the new pier block of concrete, fixed to the original block in the ground, as it seems you just stood it on top, which will mean it’s not solid at all…and could quite easily be pushed over…..🤔🤔
  22. I have to say Steve you have, in the end, taken this all very well, and looked at it all very positively, not sure I would have seen the bright side so soon, and the rest of my kit would have been up for sale by now….so kudos for that…and maybe some of us have learned a thing or two… I personally have made my own, albeit much less costly blunders, and have been grumpy for weeks….👍🏼 I hope you get it all sorted for the bare minimal cost…And I wish I could help, as you have helped me in the past…👍🏼
