  1. There is a discussion about lower priced eyepieces , Click on the link below.
  2. Davehux has just posted an ad for an EQ5 Goto if you are interested.
  3. Hi Neal, welcome to SGL.
  4. Hi Sam, welcome to SGL.
  5. The Skywatcher EQ5 with Goto comes up fairly often for around £200 / £300 and will be capable of carrying your scope. Good luck.
  6. Another point to remember is not to stand on any hard surface such as concrete or metal. In such situations it makes a big difference if you stand on wooden boards or a few layers of cardboard.
  7. +1 for heated socks or heated inner soles which I find very practical. If you have problems keeping your feet warm, then heated socks or inner soles are the only way to go IMO.
  8. I bought a Skywatcher AZ GTi Wifi mount and after a few minor problems (mainly due to my inexperience) I find it relatively easy to set up and use. It uses an iPhone or Ipad to control it and so far it is performing very well and didn't cost the earth. Just be aware that the maximum weight for this mount is 5kg.
  9. Excellent image and well deserved recognition, congratulations.
  10. I spent an hour outside last night without gloves and just a hand warmer in each pocket and I was fine, and this is someone who’s fingers go white in a few minutes in the cold. I have tried every form of gloves and hand warmers but these USB hand heaters are the only ones that really work for a long period.
  11. I have suffered with poor circulation in my fingers for years and the only thing that works for me is USB heated hand warmers which keep my hands warm by alternating one hand for adjusting and the other in my pocket with the hand warmer. If you can find a pair of gloves that you can use for adjustments then it does help but I don’t normally need any.
  12. Don’t be too hard on yourself, this hobby has so many things to remember and can be very infuriating at times. We have to be thankful that we do get rewarded for our patience albeit not very often.
  13. I have the Skywatcher 200P 8” Dob and would agree with all the other recommendations. They are very popular and come up very often within your budget or less.
  14. Quite right Michael, the fuse in the mains plug should be changed to a 1 or 2 amp.

    Hello :-)

    Hi Henk, welcome to SGL.
  16. I agree with the other suggestions for 10 x 50 binoculars, you don’t need to spend a fortune to get decent ones, IMO. Why not message FLO and ask for their recommendations.
  17. Hi Neil, welcome to SGL. Stellarium seems to be the most popular star chart on this site, I have been using it for quite a long time with no complaints.
  18. Hi and welcome to SGL.gio
  19. Another good reason to be a member of this community, I don’t think I am alone in saying my experience in astronomy is nearly all thanks to SGL and FLO.
  20. Hi Dave, welcome to SGL, you will get all the help you need from this very friendly site.
  21. Best of luck with the weather and the polar aligning 👍
  22. Hi Jason, I bought mine from eBay for about £10-£12 from memory and added a small amount of oil to the bearings. I f you find it moves too freely then I just push a piece of sponge in between the base and the moveable base, works for me.
  23. I used the type 2 and it works perfectly.
