  1. I did the same but mine were all too thin at about 0.5 mm 🙄
  2. They look like a great idea, good to know if I need any more, thanks 👍
  3. Thanks again Julian, Davy-T has kindly offered to send me the belt he pictured above which if not the exact one will give a much better idea of the size.
  4. Hi Dave, I am only guessing the diameter so 1.5 mm is probably ok. Looks like I can use Nitrile O rings after all as the link John posted states they are suitable for drive belts.
  5. Thanks Dave, could you let me have more details or a link please.
  6. Thanks again for your reply, unfortunately they do not do any diameter under 4mm and my maximum is 2mm.
  7. Thanks for the link John, it looks promising as the other O ring suppliers said that nitrile rubber is not very flexible and Technobots say theirs are suitable for drive belts. Maybe a different grade of nitrile ? I will give them a try.
  8. Thanks James, I did find that site but they only do 3mm thick and the maximum needs to be 2mm.
  9. Thanks for the link but nothing suitable unfortunately.
  10. No, it is just a smooth round section rubber ring. I have found plenty of O rings but they are not flexible enough.
  11. Unfortunately I haven’t got a picture as I have lost the original belt. The best way to describe it is it is exactly the same as an O ring but needs to be flexible. The size is about 50/60 mm diameter and 2 mm thick.
  12. I posted a similar post in the wanted section without success so I thought this place would be more suitable. The auto focuser on my Skymak 127 is driven by a round section belt which is similar to an O ring but unlike an O ring it needs to be flexible. Searches in all areas have produced nothing suitable so I wondered if anyone could point me in the right direction. Any help or information would be greatly appreciated.
  13. Hi Peter, welcome to SGL.
  14. Glad you had a good clear night, I have forgotten what one is 🙁
  15. Don’t forget that you may have to shorten them by a few mm.
  16. Hi and welcome to SGL, take your time and research as many possibilities as you can. One thing you will learn about this great hobby is you need patience.
  17. I find it very annoying when you search for something in the UK only and it completely ignores your request and shows items world wide 😬
  18. Looks like you got a great bargain, hope you get some clear nights to enjoy it.
  19. That must be one of the clearest images I have seen, excellent work and well deserved recognition.
  20. I’m surprised you don’t keep it in the safe 😀
  21. Hi Simon, welcome back to SGL. Firstly have you aligned your finder scope to your telescope? because if you haven’t finding objects will be difficult. I am sure others more experienced than me will answer your other questions.
  22. I have tried every way with my Dob and nothing works so it looks like it will be just used on my Mak.
  23. No I wasn’t using it straight through but it only works with a 45 degree diagonal and not with a 90 degree ?
