  1. Hi Ruzeen, welcome to SGL.
  2. Our messages must have crossed, but thank you for the info again, looks like that shoe will be the perfect solution 👍
  3. Thank you very much again for your help it is very much appreciated. I will buy the bracket you suggested and it will enable me to use my existing finder scope.
  4. Thanks for the info John, do you know if it is necessary to remove the focuser in order to fit a new bracket. Btw the white one is identical to mine.
  5. I have 2 or 3 finder scopes and none of them will fit the finder bracket that is attached to the OTA. I am just looking for the best way to attach a finder scope as I don’t seem to be able to locate one with the right fitting.
  6. I have recently acquired a Meade LXD55EMC refractor scope but the finder bracket is not the normal size. Could someone point me in the right direction to obtain one, or maybe an adapter.
  7. I have bought an illuminated reticle eyepiece which should make aligning much easier, thanks for you advice.
  8. I thought you had to use a static object to focus on ?
  9. As I live in a fairly populated area I have not got any objects further than a hundred yards to align my scopes. My 8” Dob is ok as the wide vision field makes it quite easy to find objects. However my 127 Mak is a different story as the fov is quite narrow and it is difficult to align on anything. Has anyone come up with an alternative solution for finder scope alignment with a restricted distance.
  10. I would like to know as well please.

    Hi again 👋

Hi and welcome back to SGL.
  12. If you buy one from FLO they will change it if you have any problems. I have one and had a few teething problems but FLO have been more than helpful sorting it out.
  13. If you have a flat area to move your scope to and from where you are storing and viewing it is a simple matter of buying or making a trolley which makes moving a 8" dob very easy. I made mine and can move it from the garage to the garden in less then a minute.
  14. There must be a problem with your pillar as mine comes out easily when the thumb screws are loosened.
  15. There are 3 retaining thumbscrews at the top of the pillar which when loosened allows the removal of the top fixing which is then attached to the mount. I would recommend a rubber washer between the top fixing and the mount as mine has a habit of coming loose.
  16. I disconnected the ethernet from my PC then launched the firmware loader and firmware update, switched on the AZ mount and it connected to my PC then I just followed the instructions that came with the update. One further point is my app has never had a problem connecting to the synscan wifi. Just remembered I had to go in to settings on my iphone and select wifi, then the synscan wifi appeared in the list, which then connected to the mount.
  17. I noticed there are Dark Sky and Dark Skies apps, the latter is free.
