  1. Are you choosing the tracking rate as solar system rather than sidereal ( in the handset)
  2. Sorry on the delay in replying, I didn't see your response until today.. Pitman motors I think are discontinued , or really hard to get hold of..
  3. Yes they do.. Celestron mounts usually have servo motors, skywatcher usually have steppers... Handsets can be adapted for either But they're both made by synta
  4. Won't be poor, just not as good.... means the fwhm reading will be inaccurate
  5. Celestron and skywatcher are made by the same company... Synta
  6. It's because if you carry the whole mount with counterweights etc you're putting stress on the gears no matter how tight the clutches are.. and clutches shouldn't also be done up that tight anyway , that can push the ring gears to one side.. If you think of how much of a turn of the worm grub screw changes the setting of the worm placement it shows how much is needed to alter the mechanics of the mount
  7. Very nice.. what's your setup please?
  8. A little bigger than you mentioned but it could have been made smaller
  9. How fast are you cooling? Take it you're using a capture software, ie Nina or Apt or something ? You can control how slow or fast you cool, too fast and it can cause frosting
  10. Do you pulse or st4 guide? On older versions of PhD there used to be a guide north, south or auto in the bottom right corner If pulse guiding you can calibrate both sides of peir
  11. That thing still running... I said to my friend that I don't get it, what are they waiting for the day it actually does... He said it's click bait...
  12. For planetary you don't need to worry about spacing too much( don't even know what mine is, but I know what my focal length is working at) you're only using a very small part of the chip when using ROI
  13. The higher the target is the better, clarity wise.. Totally agree with your issues with framing, a mount with proper goto functions will make things far easier, especially once you reach into the realms of platesolving But if you want targets rising in the east , plenty of winter targets rising which will perfect for your 72mm
  14. Hi Newbie I’m not sure if you are referring to .. I was referring to the OP
  15. Nice image, what makes you say it's less than perfect? Are you shooting wide open, ie f2?
  16. What mount are you using, most will auto flip once it passes the meridian a certain amount.. the mount doesn't know it's dark or daylight
  17. If you use autostackert it will tell you what your setting are
  18. Just picked up on this thread.. Don't assume that what was factory fitted should be reassembled in the same order.. synta fail to mesh the worms to the correct height, over tighten the locking nuts, lock up the worm bearings etc ... Doing what you are doing will improve things to a better standard as it should have left the factory in... White lithium is a slight improvement over that black gunk, but won't last as long as PTFE superlube
  19. Hi Nigella, you have a bit of speckle in the image, you can eliminate that with de-speckle in ps under noise... But de-speckle before sharpening You get this if you push the wavelets a little too hard or have too high gain, what's your settings, are you using firecapture?
  20. 11 inch tube will need a couple of hours to stabilize if bringing it out from inside the house A dew shield with a dew strap will rectify the fogging on the corrector
  21. If there's a 50/ 50 guess I'm positive I'd put it the wrong way around
  22. Are you using a zwo oag? as I think the original versions had a small prism size Also worth checking you have the prism facing the right way
