  1. That is a great image in itself. I will take a read of the link this evening, thanks for posting. I have now watched it, what a great TV clip, they did him proud.
  2. Interesting thread, something that has always interested me but I have never committed to it. I did listen as a teenager on SW with a radio set from a Lancaster bomber, it was a nice valve set, now passed on to others who use it still. Talking to Space Shuttles, who ever knew. Good luck with the ISS contact Kn4fty, is that your ham demarcation by the way?
  3. Well the Post person turned up with a few parcels, sadly missing one Special D that has gone astray..... This is for when I want longer eye relief from my incoming Nagler Type 6 or when sharing my scope with others.
  4. Well the Post person turned up with a few parcels, sadly missing one Special D that has gone astray..... But here we are, the much desired return of the 19 mm Panoptic, old was was referred to as 'My Precious', so I really have no idea why I sold it in the first place!
  5. Nice strap John, I use an American strap similar for my cameras, uses similar clips, very convenient.
  6. Interesting release, I find these pixel heavy images hard to read and have an element of doubt over highly processed images 'showing' what the operator is expecting. Sorry to be a doubter, but I will get more excited once its closer and more obvious. Impressive that anything has been resolved though, holds promise.
  7. Post person arrived today and left a parcel for me. I now have added to my Meade 3000 collection, the 16 mm arrived today, adds to the 9.5 mm and 5 mm. Just for longer ones yet., all of course all made in Japan.
  8. James that looks grewt Height is a personal thing of course
  9. A big vote for Lidl and Aldi power tools from me, usual China made, but normally fir for purpose at a throw away price. Your build is still looking good James, far beter than my and many others pipe dreams are progressing to any reality. Keep on rolling (pun intended) with the roof.
  10. I use micro 4/3 Chris and when I tried to use with my scopes found the adapter too long as I needed in focus. The sensor to mount distance with a 4/3 is much shorter than a traditional dslr. When I got it to work it was very good. I was using an Olympus EM10 mark 2.
  11. Darkstar were the provider of my very first scope, a Bresser refractor in the 80’s. I always wanted one of the dobs, but I never had enough money to buy one, so read your thread with much interest. Good luck with the ongoing fettle.
  12. I can see why this will have tempted you Stu, a very nice looking truss tube indeed. Looking forward to your postings on progress and the first light.
  13. Nice one Steve and all at FLO. A pragmatic and fairly simple interim solution until SW and OVL here in the UK can resolve this longer term. I look forward to John’s ongoing test with scope 3.
  14. Oh well spotted, the secrets out in the open now.......?
  15. Oh yes indeed, forums are a great way of keeping things in the open and some manufacturers honest*. *(This applies to all walks of life and hobbies and is not aimed at any manufacturer specifically). The lawyers said put this qualifier in ?
  16. Very nice looking scope Garry. Has it seen first light yet?
  17. I am not sure on the answers to your very valid points John, but all scopes I have owned to date came in simple cardboard outers and foam or polystyrene packers and bubble wrap. All survived the slow boat from the Pacific Rim areas.
  18. Go Fund Me page for a big ED150 sized fridge perhaps? or do we just wait a couple of month when our normal Autumnal / Winter weather returns?
  19. Shame it has run this way so far John, but let's face it it; One scope damaged in transit, couriers are not anyone's friends when it comes to anything delicate. One scope with a manufacturing fault and missed on QC, its an anomaly, not a proven trend as its 1 in XXXX with a problem to date. I await fresh stock and your update, but based on months of delay on imports to SW fear we may a bit a a wait in store. But a big thank you to John for the dedicated testing and also all at FLO for being prepared to publicly do this test, good on you all.
  20. Overall John, it looks for build quality that SW have done a good job. I am hanging on for the first impressions of how it works visually. As to style, oh yeah, the old man used to say that too ?
  21. No comment on your fashion choice or age John, but..... My dear old Dad used to have a pair of pyjamas of the same print.
  22. Now I know what one is, thanks, you live and learn. I should have bought one of these years ago!
  23. Looking good, amazing progress in the heat. Sorry to ask late after your comment, but what is a 'Newcastle' Shovel?
  24. The FLO label oozes optimism, with the word MAY. It should say is 99.9% certain to contain cloud! That scope does look rather nice indeed, looks nice on that Giro too.
