  1. At least I have not had to trade in an arm or a leg yet Jeremy! In all honesty another blood test as unwell over and since Christmas, it was not to buy an EP.
  2. Post person knocked this morning while I was out having blood taken this morning, most fortunate that my Father In Law was about to sign for it. Something I have been wanting for quite sometime and looking for since early December ? Happy astronomer me ? patience pays off, I must remember this is the case.
  3. But the clouds were left behind in Exeter!
  4. It looks huge, because it is huge Kev. James has covered half of Somerset with it! ?
  5. According to the IAS Facebook page and an answer to that very question. Yes IAS 2019 is happening, they are finalising contracts and will release a date very soon.
  6. That looks nice to me Agnes, hope you can find one.
  7. New day, new eyes and yes, it's Blue. My screen is spot on and calibrated for photography, so I know it's my eyes.
  8. That is worrying Dave as it looks Green to me........... It must be the remnants of my Christmas viral infection still having effects
  9. Nice to see the house is painted in Tak green to match the scope Dave ? Funny how we change our viewing taste or style and eyepieces to suit, problem is the kit is so much more accessible than times past. I do appreciate your change is perhaps more to do with your ongoing eye challenges of course and wish you well with this situation.
  10. My new Avatar is the Chinese rover leaving the lander on the far side of the moon.
Quite an achievement for such a young space agency.

Strangely, unlike the Apollo photos, the moon surface looks a bit brown. Could be the lighting, though.

  11. But I still think I would have put the rails on top and had the wheels pointing "upwards." Quote from Rusted Indeed, always nice to see an alternate view and option. Wonder why this has not become the norm, it has crossed my mind reading everyone's build threads.
  12. Just for a minute there I was expecting you to say Yoga was the new you Jeremy!
  13. Fully understand that reasoning and agree. Some nights not finding takes over from finding and observing and then the fun evaporates. I think you should fit the SW Goto kit for the EQ5 to your mount, it will be a sensible move forward, you don’t remove any of the main mechanical parts so should not change the mounts good behaviour. I am tempted to get a GP or similar and do the EQ5 Goto kit fit myself, but ......
  14. I can see why it's such a fine quality mount now.
  15. Got me one point 1, yes it was 2 questions. Yes it does help and does not at the same time, makes me hanker after one but I will have to sell a Kidney first, or my 10" Dob, might be less painless! So who sell these in UK or Europe?
  16. Hi Mike, Happy New Year to you. Thanks for the answer above. One more question, does it settle quickly and how does it cope with high magnifications?
  17. So as an unashamed thread revival Mike @iPeace, After some years ownership, I know you still have this mount, how is it doing?
  18. Why were you tempted to go with GO-TO Fozzie out of interest? Also have you stopped using the Skytee in favour of the GP now? Questions, questions.....
  19. Another Astro mystery solved. Nesting this early, but hey with this weather anything is possible, well other than a clear sky of course!
  20. Courier DPD knocked on the door at 9.45 am this morning, amazed as I only bought this at 16.40 from RVO last night, normal 1-2 day delivery service, stunned. A mint 5mm DeLite, just could not resist and it's a pick me up present to myself. Always wanted to try one, had a gap and thought what the heck. Of course made in Japan as I like; super build quality as you would expect, great lock on the EP mechanism and of course TeleVue quality all over. I have a full on case Televueitus or similar affliction.
  21. Nice little set Alan. I like the look of the DeLite's so much so I have gone for a 5mm to see what they are like. The lighter weight is part of the appeal to me as well as the usual TV quality. You could of use yours on the Moon sooner than a wait for night time planets. Venus early am of course. I take it that they cut through cloud well? ?
  22. I am now more excited, said I would be back in August. Once the images are up then I will be enthused even more.
  23. Sorry to say I have nothing other than encouragement to add as I have never owned such a large refractor to date and possibly won't either. I look forward to the replies in addition to Steve's above.
