  1. Because everyone likes the minty fresh views through a Tak? Taks always come up smelling of roses? You’re not sure if you prefer the original cool minty green Tak livery or the new baby blue version?
  2. Careful guys - you’ll have the Taks protection league after you 🤣
  3. Can’t be that good if it only goes up to x 262. or maybe they haven’t pushed it. I’m sure @mikeDnightcan try with his Barlowed Vixen HR 1.6 🤔
  4. It was living in Singapore during the 2003 perihelic opposition of Mars that showed me the benefit iPod high end optics. Tak refractors and Mewlon, and Pentax fracs, were common there, especially FS 102s. Looking through friends’ scopes convinced me how good they are. I soon bought my own FS 102 and my C8 hardly got any use after that (I also has a Pentax 75 SDHF for travel). I suspect this was before Chinese fracs became common ; in any case quality Japanese optics is what the locals were after. There were a few Borgs, buy they weren’t so popular as the mechanicals weren’t so good - I had a Borg 125 for a brief period but soon sold it on.
  5. You may well be onto something there, Paul. Not sure about reassurance, but happiness is not being tormented by our thoughts and emotions 😊 I guess it comes down to the appeal of “nearly as good”.
  6. Yes, I think you might be right about stage of life. But in the opposite sense for me. I spent the vast majority of my observing life with reflectors and SCTs. Now after nearly 50 years, it’s the crisp views through a quality Tak that I yearn for. And earlier in life they were unaffordable to me. 😊
  7. Some of these round bags (I have an Oklop for my C9.25, which is very nice) are just large enough for the OTA which means you have to remove accessories like finder and diagonal. Not a significant problem, just a bit of extra hassle
  8. I’ve had nothing heavier than a Tak TSA 120 on it so far. I use that with a cw, but @johninderbyhas pointed out that you don’t really need a cw (cw only required if there’s a chance the tripod will topple over). Not sure if that applies to a C11 tho.
  9. You been at the pub since yesterday??? 🤣
  10. Trying to sneak this little accessory past me, eh Dave?
  11. What about a handle ? 🤣
  12. But does the mount have slow motion controls?
  13. Definitely better than a reflector
  14. The wheels on that John Deere don’t look quite circular. Maybe the temperature was too low. I’m sure they will ask Tak for advice. 🤣
  15. I have two possible setups for the AZ100 with cw bar (but no cw): either Planet or Uni 20, no pillar. I can carry either, but the Uni is noticeably easier. The Planet is on the border of what I am comfortable with, especially as I have to negotiate a gate which means an awkward turn. To make that easier, with the Planet I remove the tray and put the kegs to gather to reduce the width of what I’m carrying. I can carry the Uni with legs and tray in place,.
  16. Ah, so you can’t resist licking those lovely Tak lenses either then, Garry.
  17. Great product from a great company. But I might be biased 😊
  18. News in from Kato-san at vsnet overnight that V1405 Cas might be brightening. Several observers in Japan reported vis or V=7.4 on Apr. 26. He notes "The nova before this brightening was apparently in "premaximum halt" ". Time will tell - further observations encouraged!
  19. Now you’re just taking the #@£% Olly. 🤣
  20. I’m sure there are a few on here that might make some suggestions 🤣 But I’d say anywhere the brand police can see it 🤣
  21. Lots of us on here have issues, so you will be very busy indeed 🤣
