  1. I had it at mag 7.9 last night. This was an unfiltered CCD measurement which is typically a bit brighter that V band. I’ve seen several vis obs today at 8.1 to 8.5, mostly around 8.2
  2. Congratulations on your retirement Mike!!
  3. According to the Anthology of Visual Double Stars (Argyle, Swan & James) “there is currently no one alive who has seen the companion of Procyon. The last person to do so was Charles Worley 1935 - 1997”
  4. Yup, I’m afraid that’s what happens Nicola 😊 Great report and really pleased you are enjoying your new Tak.
  5. Actually, upon reflection I think it might have been @andrew s’s budgie smugglers that were debated in this forum, rather than @Stu’s 🤔
  6. Hacksaw? Actually, John Handleby is handy with hacking off bits off scope tubes. 😊
  7. Retractable dew shields have revolutionised my cloudy nights, though. Great for Tak OCD. 😊
  8. I think we discussed Stu’s budgie smugglers previously And briefly 😊
  9. Colour coordination is exemplary Hope you’re not going to mess up the look with your Tak 🤣
  10. Nothing wrong with equipment sentimentality. Im thinking of learning Japanese so I can speak to my Taks more easily.
  11. If I were going for an FC 100, I’d go for the DZ. Further, for visual I’d save a few Bob and stick with the Tak focuser. Not sure how airline portable, but with the dew shield retracted and accessories removed the length is only 595 mm according to FLO website.
  12. That’s wonderful, Stu. Have you been doing weights as well as all your other exercise? 😊
  13. Looks great. Interested to hear how you get on 👍🏻
  14. Even the blue boxes are beautiful in their understated retro style. Classic!
  15. Sorry Louis, I was being naughty. Slap me on the wrist. It’s often at this point in a thread that discusses cleaning fluids that somebody asks about making their own, pointing out the Baader stuff is expensive which leads to a discussion on whether one really is saving money, Optical Wonder is worth its weight in gold, safety risks, risks to optics etc. For the record I use the Baader stuff. It is very good. Sorry.
  16. That wonder fluidic stuff is pretty pricey, though. What about making your own? Oh sorry, I think we’ve done this one before 🤐
  17. Wow! What an absolutely stunning setup, Nicola 👍🏻
  18. Click on the 3 dots at the top of your post you want to edit: same line as where it says Johnturly. You will get a drop down menu with an option “edit”
  19. You won’t like it John. Awful scopes those Taks with their poor focusers 😊
  20. You have a great scope to start imaging with already. No need for reducers. For many years I imaged with my Tak FS 102 and was very happy with the results. I realise cameras have moved on since those days, but not that much. Go for it!
  21. ...and of course you went for the optional extras
  22. Now you got a personal chair John, do we have to call you Professor Handleby?
