  1. Have you checked to see by unscrewing the focuser itself, some were supposedly glued on or the focuser threads were not to a good standard, before you buy. I found adding teflon strips and tuning the focuser, the teflon strips on the draw tube tightens up the movement and is able to hold a good weighted camera. I will never change the focuser on mine. Same with its big brother I have the C100ED.
  2. Having received a new 72ed, they now come with a aluminium push fit telescope cap instead of the screw on version. Even though I liked the screw on version, I just did not like the thought of the metal filings dropping onto the lens.
  3. You shouldn't be having all this trouble collimating the MN190. Are you far ?
  4. Here's my input. The 72ED is better value for money, you have either a Flattener or an 0.85x reducer which brings the scope down to f4.9 with a focal length of 357mm, the same as the 60ED at 360mm. Plus the slightly larger aperture of the 72. The 72ED depending on the mount your using and dovetail will provide better balance. Cheaper then RVO's offering, I would not get too hung up on the glass type for this size aperture. Check this site out on the quality of the optics of the ED72: A test report with star test and Ronchi-record for a Sky Watcher EVOSTAR 72 ED DS PRO OTA ED-APO (teleskop-spezialisten.de)
  5. Meade telescopes were successful with their LX range also with their 5000 triplets their optics were second to none. I have no sympathy for Meade. I still remember the very biased opinions which BC&F had once when visiting their faringdon showroom in London.
  6. Still the old stuff was the best. My old 8” LX10 optics much better then present mass produced optics.
  7. If I did not own a Celestron 100ED, then my ideal scope would have been a 120ED. Decent scopes for the money.
  8. I refer to Stan Moore's Focal Ratio Myth. f-ratio myth (stanmooreastro.com)
  9. Here is an informative article by Nils Olif Carlin about collimation. http://web.telia.com/~u41105032/kolli/kolli.html
  10. Your not the only one Chris. I find the old way the best way, even though it's harder.
  11. As the title suggests. I will be using a modded dslr with a 130pds in bortle 7/8 skies. Whats your recommendations? Thanks.
  12. I have been using the concenter for a good few years before my spine operation.
  13. Nice to hear less of your Grumpyness Grumpy.
  14. I replaced my cheap dehumidifier box 1 week ago underneath the cover of my pier after 3 months. The pier was completely dry still
