Our eyes and minds, different individuals?
Skyline replied to maw lod qan's topic in The Astro Lounge
After having lasik eye surgery, my eyes are a lot better, I was looking through my C100ED at the beehive cluster the other night, distinctive colour of the stars. Brilliant -
Yes clunky - That's the word.

I do wish ZWO bring out a dedicated piece of software for imaging capture for their dedicated cooled astro cameras, similar o what Atik offers. APT is getting on my nerves.

Small, Carbon, f5, 600mm Newt, is there such a thing ?

Designed in tinkercad. The only problem I got is that's printed in plastic as the original will be cnc machined. -

I have had moonlites in the past, the one I liked was the shaft lock versions. I have used them with heavy equipment, Reducer+Filterwheel+Spacers+Atik 383L+, I could say it was once one the best setups I had in the past - without slippage. -
I've known this for a while about your eyes Grumpy! But did not say anything until now. You need to wear glass bottles or buy some theatre glasses.

I'm thinking about ordering the 130PDS mounting kit from FLO. You can always pick up a s/h dual speed moonlite focuser later on. I do not think I be getting rid of scope anytime soon due to my recent disability. I find the 130PDS very manageable compared to my 150mm newt I used to have. Also I might have to pass on the 100ED I have due the length and bulkiness - I really hope not as it is a very versatile scope and it took me ages to find that particular model. What I have found using the skywatcher cc, the focuser tube is racked in more, so it reduces any tilt on focuser tube if instead racked out when using something like a baader. -

Anything lower then f/5 the mechanical aspects need to be more critical, mirror cell, spider vanes, collimation, focuser mountings, flexture etc. The 130PDS has a rigid steel tube, hardly any flexture, or if at all very little. Just fit a longer dovetail to the ota. The only downside is the focuser, but the cheapest solution commercially is a moonlight for now. From a long time never bothered using a laser collimation, just use a 2" concenter eyepiece and a Cheshire. -

Any difference in sensitivity from ASI294MC Pro and ASI1600
Skyline replied to Skyline's topic in Discussions - Cameras
Thanks for your input Gina, I know the 383L+ is an older camera now, but it has a good chip and the Artimis software is much nicer to use then APT. The only downside to it is the 8300 Kodak chip is meant to be discontinued soon. I know in the price of the Atik I can buy the 1600 with filters and a filter wheel. Also how much would I be able to sell my ASI294MC pro for? Nadeem. -

I bought a box full of 500 anti bacterial hand sachets for £38 from amazon. My wife has loads of aloe vera plants around the house. -
Hi there, Just as the title says. Is there any increase of sensitivity between the two cameras even though both are using cmos sensors. I'm just wandering as my desire is slowly thinking about going from a OSC cmos to mono. The bug had got me again... Would I go back to ccd or cmos mono I am still pondering over. I was thinking of investing in a Atik 383L+ if funds permit or an ASI1600MM Pro. But also I would need to check if both cameras have suitable sampling rate with the scopes I am going to use, primarily with a 80ED, 100ED and a 130PDS. Your thoughts are welcome.

Prototype Sky-Watcher Evolux ED Refractors
Skyline replied to FLO's topic in Sponsor Announcements and Offers
Let's wait and see what skywatcher offer. Sure it will be competitive. Has FLO got an update when they will hit the uk market bearing in mind with the Corona outbreak ? -
This is another version I processed, the colours are better balanced in this one and the blue wisp in the outer arms is starting to show, need more exposure. I find Galaxies very hard to process.

Looks like a very nice scope John, certainly specced betterthen skywatchers offering. At one point I was going for the 203NT, but my back went and that was that. Nadeem. -
Hi, I decided to have a go imaging with a Dual L-Enhance filter using my ASI294MC Pro camera using the 130PDS on M81. Just 2 hours of data at 300s lights. I was quite surprised of how much detail was picked up, actually I found it better then the IDAS LPSv4 I used to use. I think I would get similar results in using this filter when imaging other galaxies. Does that mean I can sell on my IDAS filter? As I mainly use the Optolong Dual filter with my camera. Nadeem.

If its truly a moonlite, buy the focuser s/h and buy the mounting plate new.

I take it you have tried tightening the grub screws underneath the stock focuser? Mind you using a non reducing corrector does protrude much more out then using the 0.9x corrector which only leaves 5mm to focus with.
