  1. Vixen R200SS 8" F4 Astrograph with Vixen coma corrector. Superb optics. Barely used in excellent condition with original accessories, tube rings, and dovetail. It has Bob's knobs fitted and comes with original collimation screws as well.Collection only from Bristol or I could meet you within a few miles of M4 J20 / M5 J15. I will not send this by courier/post. £550. Payment by PayPal or cash on collection please.
  2. I recently tried imaging M7 with my 6" f/4 Newtonian. I had earlier commimated it with a Cheshire and Howie Glatter and was sure of the collimation. However, when I imaged using my DSLR with the coma corrector installed, I get focused stars off centre and not on the optical axis. Anyone experience anything similar before? What could this be? Tilt in the optical train? The focuser was drawn out only about 5mm to reach focus along with a 50mm extension tube. Any suggestion is welcome.
  3. I purchased a standard GSO 6" RC telescope late 2016. As with other RC scopes, I've had my share of problems with the collimation. As many of you know collimation of the RC is a bit of a struggle. After reading much of the material online, it seems that the procedure boils down to multiple iterations with the simple Cheshire and something called as Hall of Mirrors aka multiple reflection effect. Below are the test images from tonight. Reference star is Canopus. All images are inside of focus, unless mentioned. The small rectangle shows the location of the star in the FoV. I also built myself an artificial star from Aluminum foil and LED torch and checked the collimation indoors. The indoor test is quite better as seeing conditions have not affected the judgement. As you may all notice, I've used Mire De Collimation exe file for final checking. I've not used a laser collimator or Howie, just a simple Cheshire and a real star, though I'd love to try again with a Howie Glatter.
  4. Hello all, Here is my latest image I would like to share, the Horsehead nebula in Orion. Last week I had 2 clear nights in a row which is very unusual down here. There is a huge tree south from my location so I had to interrupt the imaging session for 2 hours in the middle of each run. Hopefully I can add some more data to it soon...   5. Hi All, I purchased a GSO 6" f/4 Newtonian "Astrograph" late last year and eventually found that stars on one corner were egg shaped while taking images. I narrowed it down to improper centering of secondary mirror from the factory and resulting tilt. Long story short, after numerous iterations, I used the Advanced Newtonian collimation technique by Astro Shed guy and ended up with the below pic of the optics. Does it look ok or do I need to do more? I will be checking with a Howie this weekend too.
  6. Hi everyone, I recently got myself a GSO 6" f/4 astrograph, but seems like the secondary mirror was quite off. I then tried collimation using Astro Baby's tutorials, and others around the net. I've had a few Nets during the past 20 years, but this one seems to be a bit of a pain to get right. The secondary holder is a bit stiff. Anyone here done any mods for the scope and have reasonably good performance? I'be attached an image with Mire De Collimation circles. Image shows the reflection of primary, followed by the edge of secondary and followed by the grey card placed behind the secondary, which ends with the focuser tube. Any help will be appreciated. Edit: If I were to move the secondary towards 2'o'clock position, could it solve the problem?
  7. Hello Everyone, I have a GSO 6" f/4 Astrograph, and there's always been this issue with elongated stars on one edge. I've checked collimation and it is perfect, but for the elongation on one corner. Could someone please throw some light on what's happening
  8. I am looking for an epsilon 130 (new version). The price must be around 1500£ including shipping to London. General conditions must be good but few scratches won't be a problem. I am not interested in accessories but if you have rings or electronic focuser we may talk. Corrector to canon adapter is warmly welcomed.
