  1. Fantastic, thanks for sharing.
  2. Thanks Andy, that looks the ticket. I'm also looking to replace the little dessicant pack that was stuck inside it. Its a very thin strip, not the usual beads in a porous bag.
  3. 1,000 light-years away, this dusty molecular cloud is part of a dark nebulae complex within Cepheus Luminance with Epsilon 180ed, RGB with ED80 This is the first time I've really struggled using the ED80 to get colour data. I've attached the LRGB version, the L and RGB data. I've since devised a more elaborate way of aligning the two scopes, so the misalignment seen here wont be an ongoing problem, and there was some sort of cock up with the guiding losing a star, and then moving frames. Isnt there usually something with AP!! CC welcome. Adam
  4. Very nice David, amazing what you can do with just 4 hours of data. Adam
  5. Should I seal around the pins with something now?
  6. I’m getting an almost fully bright image and according to QHY this is consistent with conduction across pins, most likely related to moisture. Want to tidy this up in case it’s contributing to the problem
  7. One side of the sensor has some corrosion. It’s causing a short. Any suggestions for remedial action?
  8. That’s real nice Bob. I like the framing and the processing especially the dark stuff 👍🏼 Adam
  9. Very nice close up view from Galway. How are things in the south at the minute?
  10. My cameras stay on the scopes in a (dehumidified) obsy, but any camera I’m not using lives in a case in the house. I use one of those metal suitcases with foam insert plucked out to right shape.
  11. There’s only one place to plant them that might do any good 🌲🍑
  12. Sorry to hear this. It actually angers me reading this and it doesn’t look you will get a solution from what you are saying. Perhaps bring your kids round with you and try talking again. Its a shame, the selfish actions of others, and he can’t claim ignorance.
  13. Very rich in colour! You have a lot of Ha - 36 hours - versus just half of that in luminance. Was this a conscious decision or one dictated by the set up of your imaging rig?
  14. Here are some pictures of mine. I’m using them with a widefield setup of QHY9 and Nikon 180mm lens. So far I’ve just used luminance (and a baader Ha filter also in the wheel).
  15. The Baader 1.25” LRGB at £215 would be a sure bet. I have a SVBONY UV-IR filter which performs excellently, but not sure on the RGB filters. I have a set but haven’t used them yet.
  16. Nice images, well done. Both have a pinkish/orange tone on my screen, how do you see them?
  17. A mask is very useful Andrew, I wouldnt be without one. For some reason I took a screen shot of using the mask last night, must have had a premonition 😆 Last night didn’t really work out as the cloud wouldn’t go away long enough to get RGB data.
  18. Moisture in the air, and something reflective within the imaging train or edge of secondary mirror, causing the right circumstances. I had the same issue where it was there for a few hours and not there another night.
  19. Your first image is not dissimilar to my last Mars image 2010. I havent taken an image of Mars since then but I am ready to go for tonight. I can tell you I really hope it's half as good as your recent one, as that is IMO pretty fantastic. Adam
  20. Thank you Mark. I should have recorded the image shift between focusing, the stars actually move, because racking the focuser in or out causes a small degree of lateral movement of the drawtube - illustrated in my gif below. I dont think I'll continue using the standard focuser, unless I can get it fixed, as there must be something wrong with it. The lateral movement and general feel is really very poor. If I dial out the lateral movement using the adjustment screws then the focuser is stiff. Even if I dial it back to just a hint of lateral movement, if I try to use the fine control knob, it feels springy, and if I turn it 2-3mm, it will just spring back, not having actually moved the draw tube. Thus it is incredible difficult to accurately move the drawtube. I certainly cant focus it easily, nor could I focus it in one direction only. I can say that this is the worst focuser I've owned (by a long shot) in my 10+ years of imaging. I appreciate all your help on the matter. I know you have advised against it, but if I cant improve the OEM focuser, I plan to remove it, and now that the scope is collimated to it, refit the Moonlite focuser, and try to get it fitted as close as possible to collimation without adjusting the telescope mirrors. In my head this seems logical. Adam
  21. I have had something similar in my image - I put it down to a reflection.
