  1. No, not really. These are the IS camera drivers, they don’t show up when ASPS calls the ASCOM camera drop down. I’m beginning to think there may not be an ASCOM driver developed for the DMK series.
  2. OK, now I have All Sky Plate Solver working for me, I'm using a 60/227 eFinder and a DMK51 camera...... To connect ASPS to the camera it looks for an ASCOM driver. I've been unable to find one for the DMK51. Any ideas???
  3. The early "Super Plossl's" pre 1998, with "Japan" stamped on the black top section are far superior to the later "Japan" on the chrome nosepiece or the "Chinese" stamped versions.
  4. No, I think mine came from Charles Frank. A solid piece of brass, 1 1/4" fitting. I did have some later eyepieces which were RAS thread.....
  5. When I used my ol’ 6” f8 back in the 60’s the only eyepiece I had was the solid brass 1/2” Ramsden ....I still have the original Wildey mirror, it would be good to combine it with an original brass Ramsden....can anyone help???
  6. Guys, I use a Polar aligned HEQ5pro mount for all my solar imaging. With a ROI (to suit the size of the proms) on the ASI 1600MM on an SM60DS/ ED80/ x2.5 PM and tracking set to solar (or sidereal...) I can maintain the target in the frame for as long as you want..... For animations I've tried 400 frames every five minutes for as long as cloud permits. After AS3!, ImPPG works well to combine the frames, PIPP to generate a GIF animation.
  7. I just bought a SW Black Diamond 102/ 1000 achromat for a PST mod. weighs in at only 3.3Kg, looks good, feels good and only A$300 delivered.
  8. I have a small 60 deg prism which sits over the eyepiece, similar to that used by Hartung. This is ideal for separating a small planetary from stars in the FOV. The stars show a small spectrum, the planetary shows as a steady spot. simple and easy to use.
  9. A little surprised with the comment Re Baader 35nm. It has been used very successfully as a “sub diameter” ERF on many solar scopes.
  10. ATASP - I did look at that, but it needed a minimum of thirty stars in the image.... I’m happy with ASPS with the EQMod and NEQ6PRO for spectroscopy.
  11. Louis, unfortunately astro equipment is not made to automotive standards.... Not all Astro electronics is as good or robust as we would hope/ expect.
  12. I’ve got to say, when I started out back in the 60’s I was told even the bottom of a coke bottle would work well at f10.........
  13. I use both the ASI 174 and the ASI 1600.... I can get >15 fps with the ASI 1600 with the SM60/ ED80 and a USB3 and SSD drive.
  14. Michael, Not correct. you can add your mount as the “Aux mount”- I use this with my Lodestar to guide my C11 on the NEQ6PRO. No issues.
  15. Sorry..... No crop factor in Astronomical imaging....
  16. OK. Finally, with some help from Dustin (Astrometry.net) I've managed to get ASPS to work for me. It has successfully solved ALL the archived eFinder images I can find, so a fair test. I'm not 100% sure what the actual "fix" was - combo of re-install and added indexes (4100 series) I'm a happy camper!!!
  17. Don't get "traditional" family photography mixed with astronomical imaging....crop factor doesn't exist! A 50mm fl lens is always a 50mm fl lens. We're only interested in three things - pixel size, pixel array and effective focal length (or effective focal ratio)
  18. Very interesting! You can even print setting circles or al/ az deg for your Dobbie!! https://www.blocklayer.com/degree-wheel.aspx
  19. A good start, well done! The Newton Rings show issues with the camera, get the focus on the edge as tight as you can then go to the tuning......
  20. A simple Ronchi screen will quickly show any issues.....
  21. Spoke to soon. None of the recent eFinder images were solved in ASPS....bumma! A bit more investigating and many trials with other programs etc etc OK, my immediate problem solved with ASPS! I had been using it manually without the option of connecting to the mount....once connected (EQMod) it offered the "near solve" based on a 4 deg limit. I hope that's easier.....
