  7. have we got an APOD here? we should do...

    1. JB80

      JB80

There used to be a fairly big pic of the week or month section encompassing all the various imaging sections but this was stopped. It was really good but I gather it was a bit of a faff to organise.

    2. JB80

      JB80

I think the other thing is it can create a competition type thing and really some people are more sensitive than others, nobody should be afraid to post a pic because they don't think it is up to standard. All imagers are welcome here and I like that.

    3. tingting44

      tingting44

yeah a pic of the week or month would be good, i can see it being a bit of a competition too, but that is a good thing sometimes, and your right all pics are welcome here

  8. hoping for some nice weather this weekend to get the scope out and try to nab my 1st view of another galaxy...fingers crossed

      hobsey

Don't think the other half will see it that way.

I will say to her she can do what she wants with the rest of it as long as I get to buy my imaging scope first.

    1. Christopher Davenport

      Christopher Davenport

Lol that is funny! I am sure it is fine, just make sure you thaw it in a way to make sure that as it warms water does not form ... hair dryer?

I saw it as well. Managed to track it with my dob. Looked kind of like a very bright tie fighter. No detail though visually, just a lot of light!

    3. tingting44

      tingting44

i never bore of looking at the ISS, just dying to get a detailed image of it now lol instead of the normal wide field line streak going across the frame lol, will be having a few more goes tonight hopefully if the clouds behave

Just looked up PI, those home page images are amazing.

    3. tingting44

      tingting44

idigitize I got PI simply because of the power of the stacking options, same data stacked with DSS and PI is just miles apart, its amazing really. also ABE and DBE imo are worth the price tag alone, just going to take some time to get familiar with all the functions.

really idigitize, ive found LR5 NR does a way better job, did not know they used the same raw conversion!

for me there is no looking back with PI now,

    4. tingting44

      tingting44

PI has a trial you can use with all functions unlocked, give it a try, especially stacking and ABE & DBE!

  17. i really need to get back on the imaging bus.....b4 i know it, dark skies will be gone again... :(

  18. i swear there was a for sale section somewhere? cant find it tho lol

You'll need a few more posts... 50 posts to view and to buy, 250 posts to place a classified ad. When you get to 50 posts, look top right.

    3. tingting44

      tingting44

that sucks, surely that just promotes spamming? im not a spammer so ill just have to wait a few months to be able to even view, great!

  19. i think we should all do the clear sky dance for tonight like they use to do in the caveman times :)

    1. emadmoussa

      emadmoussa

  20. i wonder how nights of the year we actually have a cloud free night? must be a VERY low % :(

    1. Pingster

      Pingster

Very very few, thats why i recommend goto for beginners. Sometimes you have only 30mins of clear sky, and a goto can mean the difference of seeing somthing and seeing nothing at all.

    2. tingting44

      tingting44

yeah its not as simple as point and click with the goto as i was expecting before i bought one, but once your use to it and the night sky its better :D

    3. hobsey

      hobsey

Thats cool. I was thinking later on down the line I may get another one as the adapter for the guidecam to the finder is quite loose and turns easily so I was going to lock tight it on and get another one as a finder.

    4. tingting44

      tingting44

yes i found the SPC900 adapter quite loose also on the SW 9x50 :( bit of lock tight or some plumbers tape will do the trick tho ....

So many arguements about which is the worst type of cloud: Altocumulus coud, Cirrus clouds, Cumulonibus clouds, Altostratus or the annoying high Cirrostratus ones that seem to appear in the evening.

    4. hobsey

      hobsey

      I like the invisible cloud.
