Some suspect looking Amazon dealers selling mounts

Not really relevant but an amusing read on UK vs US slang. 😁 https://www.effingpot.com/chapters/slang/ -
Some suspect looking Amazon dealers selling mounts
johninderby replied to Pete Presland's topic in The Astro Lounge
First two sellers are brand new with zero feedback and the third has only 5 feedbacks but not for anything astro. One other possibility is that they have made a mistake in entering the part number and may not be selling a scope after alll. -
That is a bit of an overreaction to say the least over one very brief scene. Nothing like you would see in the average video game nowadays. Never heard any bad language either. The bar was a nod to Quarks in Deep Space Nine mainly with a bit of Blade Runner thrown in with a lot of “in” jokes and references. It is a show for adults though and would go over the heads of most kids.

Had a Solarquest mount that died suddenly. Turned out to be a cable had come loose inside. Just needed plugging back in. Anyway here’s what the inside of the mount looks like.

Set up the ZWO 290 mono camera in the workshop. Works fine with the mini laptop. Now if the skies will just cooperate will try some lunar imaging. 🙂 -
Solarquest saddle plate upgrade.

Replaced the knob with a bolt and tightened well down. Never going to shift and rock solid. Would rather have a longer saddle that holds the scope more securely. -

When I had one just used a short Geoptik dovetail and an Altair Starwave mini saddle. Thought the ADM saddle was too short. -
Thought it was an April fools joke when I came across it. Looks like something you’d find in a dodgy road side burger van. 🤮🤮🤮

3D printed steak? 😬

It’s set in the Star Trek universe but intended to suit the adult with darker themes as well as some humour. Picard is now too old to serve in Star Fleet so no commanding the Enterprise but rather a private mission to put right a wrong. Has depth to the plot that will take a while to play out. 🙂

It has already been officialy renewed for a second series with rumours of early work on a third series given the go ahead apparently.🙂😎

Tolerances can stack up in your favour if you are fortunate. 😁 -
Making an adaptor is very simple just requiring a power drill really. The only thing you might not have is an M10 tap.

I like the US Gear strap as it has storage on the strap that can hold lens and eyepiece caps and quick releases so you can take off the strap easily.

Did well with selling bits this week so got a big chunk of the purchase price for the new acquisition in hand. 😁
