hi just saying hello

and thought it was about time i get some advice from people who have vastly more experience in astronomy.

i have been fiddling around in the dark for over a year now with little to no effect.

i baught a skywacher 127 supatrak and found the tracking to be less than good and could not mount my camera on it because it would have star trails after only 5 seconds with the camera atached to she scope via the t mount.

so i bought a celestron cg5 gt mount which i think is great but now it will track for 5 minits with my canon eos 300d pigybacked with 90mm lens but only 30 seconds on the scope with a t mount.

can any one sugest a budget way to autoguide and can a celestron neximage be used as a guide camera.:glasses1:

Hi Toxic and welcome to SGL :glasses1:

You may want to look into finder/guiders as a cheap alternative to regular guiding. The Neximage can be used for guiding but you need another scope, and the camera may need an LE mod. Use Phd free software for the guiding.

But before you look into those it may help to ensure your scope is properly balanced on the mount with all bit's attached (including camera). Also getting it accurately polar aligned will make a big difference. You ought to be able to get up to two mins unguided.

Hope that helps :)
