My first orion Nebula

first time using dslr in a telescope prime focus no barlow any advice please, as confused on what picture quality to use?

Looks very ncie in my eyes! Focuse is right on and lots of details and colours

well, that's a very good start. I wish my first picture was as nice as that. But the main thing is you have to be happy with it yourself. that's the most important. After that what others think does not matter.

My only (processing) comment is that you've clipped the blacks a bit hard.

i'm certainly no expert but it looks o.k to me, on my image of the same; i cropped it and felt it improved it.

I've never done any astro imaging myself (yet) but that looks like a great image to me.

I'm just curious, the set up stated in your signature, is that all you have used to capture this image?

Yes just the Nikon d90 ed 80 ds pro 2" t adapter single exposure @ 26 sec then used windows live photo gallery.

looking to get more software and took on board the DSS but looks daunting....

Lovely first shot at this.

Mine always come out very purple too with Canon eos350 and 10>30 second exposure. Though as I haven't sorted my tracking out yet I get a lot of trailing, so I'm not ready to post yet.
