Fantastic clear skies here just up the road from Evesham, probably the best star count I have seen in a few months. Very cold though!

Yes very clear in Herefordshire. Set up the Dob and viewed 5 more Herschel 400 DSOs in Pegasus. Also had a go at Stephan's Quintet - possible sighting but not certain.

I also viewed M74, M33, M31 (M32/M110) and NGC 891.

Fitted new shroud on my flextube using a Lightbridge shroud from Astro Boot - had enough over to also make a dew shield. This kept the scope clear - viewed for over 3 hours. It was a bit cold!

Doc's lightbridge froze up. I also noticed that my Canon 1000D shutter started sounding 'sluggish' at -5 centigrade. Must have a look at the rated temperature range in the user manual tomorrow.

N Ireland Here, Clear as a bell just come in even in the obbey it's freezing great nights viewing seen a great meteor at around 9.45 e/w very bright big tail . Minus 3.1 here and due to trop even more.

NGC 891 (DSO forum) in the back, failed on M1 so now re-doing a classic, flame and HH to see what difference the CCD makes over the 1000D I last used on this target

I stuck it out until 1am when the Moon came up. TBH once I'd got past a certain point I go used to the cold and it stopped bothering me.

Well, ive just disturbed in my sleep and peeked around the curtains. I now have a 50% clear sky, and a possible glow to the northern horizon. (To about 4 degree high, but its difficult in these conditions).

I also have 6" of new snow! That could make getting Julia "interesting" at 7.30.

I eventually managed a further 2 hours out there mainly on Orion and gave in at 2.00am as the moon appeared over the neighbours roof.

Only realised how cold I was when I came in ! well worth it though.
