Hello everyone! Not only am I new to astronomy but also to forums too. Anyway, I've just bought my first telescope 2 weeks ago, a skywatcher 150p with EQ3-2 mount. I've been watching the great views of Jupiter and last night I managed to spot my first galaxy M31! Although it was very very dim I think due to the light pollution, moon etc

Cheers!

Brian

Hi Brian and welcome to the forum.

More aperture with its ability to capture more light might help a little in seeing some structure with M31 but even then it will be faint. Alternatively, try M13 as an alternative which many claim to be one of the best globular clusters - one of my favourites!!!

Clear skies for your continued observations.

James
