ollypenrice
Well, quite big. I had to 'semi mosaic' this one by taking a set of images shifted left and a second set shifted right, so the main galaxy got the full whack of time and only the edges right and left were a bit thin on data. Atik 4000 mono, Tec 140 apo, EQ6.Lum; middle only, 3.5 hours. Left and right 1.5 hours each. (6.5hrs)Colours bin 1; per panel, 1.25 hrs each. (7.5hrs)Ha (middle) 2 Hours. I don't really like M33s with the Ha fireworks so I kept this muted to the point of almost nothing. So a total of 16 hours which does seem to be a lot! It was absolute hell to process, as seems to be the case for most attempts at this galaxy. M33 has a speckled appearance so, however you do it, it seems to look noisy. This is even true of Gendler's image so I felt better about that.BTW the semi mosaic idea seems productive. I did the same on the Pelican-NAN posted a few days ago and given some contrast tweaks yesterday.Olly

ollypenrice
wow that is stunning is this image as hard as m31 to precess?I think it's harder. It is good to have lots of data but quirks and oddities can pile up when you do and the thing with galaxies - at least I find it so - is that the colour pivots precariously around the green. Also doing any kind of mosaic is tricky because both sides may differ slightly. On my laptop this looks too blue and too bright, with no red in the core. I'll try another variant and see which looks best to you guys.Olly
Chrissy G
fantastic pic, its inspiring to know that this is possible at all without something like hubble! a lot of patience required i assume?

ollypenrice
Just a bit less bright and less blue but my laptop still refuses to show and red glow in the core. I hope my desk machine is not inventing it!Olly
