I took these two photos only seconds apart. The top bit I took secondly. I’m not sure what it is I’ve captured. But can anyone tell me what it could be??

Hello and welcome to SGL. Unfortunately the photos are too out of focus to identify what it is you saw. Was this a static object ? Which direction was you looking ? Time / date / location ?  If you know the last three you can use Stellarium to identify the object.

Is it Jupiter? And the first one looks to me like hand-held camera shake on, say, a 1/4 second exposure...

If you can provide some more info... i.e date, time, direction, etc,. then we can advise more.

The top-half reminds me of this ---> th.jpg.f93b3533573109548fcc35406ff7f9e5.jpg ...the Debian Linux OS logo!

Hard to say, looks like a planet with moons. The swirly bit is where the camera moved

Yes, essentially you've captured the movement of the camera. As Tim says, that's the loop and the two bright patches at each end of it are the same object recorded in different positions after the wobble. This does pose a second question, though: why have the other objects not left equivalent trails? The answer, I think, is that they are not bright enough. They have only been recorded on the chip during the stable period before or after the wobble. Once on the move they were too faint to be recorded.

      Hi everyone, 
      Can anyone confirm (or refute) - have I imaged Ganymede and Europa in orbit around Jupiter or is that just wishful thinking? (Only equipment used was a Lumix G7 with 150mm zoom lens - effectively 300mm with 2x crop factor - and of course a tripod).
      It appears to be the case and yet I can't quite allow myself to believe it...

      Here is a picture I took with my wife on holiday in France. It was a rare evening of stargazing after 3 year toddler hiatus. 
      We took it on a canon 6d with a 16mm wide angle sitting on the star adventurer.
      It’s  based on 3 exposures where I stacked the sky part whilst only using 1 layer for the foreground. Maybe 20 second exposures I can’t quite recall now. Then bumped up the levels also in photoshop.

      Hey.. So last night i went to a beach that had one side completely dark ,and the other filed with light pollution . In the dark side,the milky way gqlaxy was pretty obvious and the sky was  full of stars. Andromeda was rising and i wanted to take a peak, however , it was low on the horizon and had a slight haze(skyglow).It wasn't visible with the naked eye and in my 10x50 binoculars i could just resolve the core.
      I heard Andromeda would be visible with the naked eye as its mag 3.3. But the milkyway was and Andromeda wasnt.What went wrong?

      NGC6559 at the center of the milkyway is a photo I created from RGB filters only and at BIN1.

      Telescope: ASA 12'' F3.6
      Mount: DDM 85 Unguided
      Camera: FLI 16200 Mono
      Filters: Astrodon
