There's a club that views from Regents park in the heart of London, so its doable from busy cities!
How long is the drive to the Chiltern downs over to your west, maybe some darker skies there.
A shaded area in the back garden and binoculars opens up a bright new world, but avoiding eye contact with manmade lighting helps.
