M45 From Kelling Heath

On Wednesday I came down with a cold and some how dragged myself out of bed on Thursday to face packing and a 230 mile drive to Kelling. After long drive and setting up camp, I forced myself into setting up my imaging gear. I'm so glad I did as I managed to get three hours of data of M45 and finally crawled into bed at 4.00am.

Here's the fruit of my labour M45 taken with a Canon 400D. Exposure 36 x 5mins at ISO800. Stacked in DSS Asinh curves applied, Dynamic Background Extraction in Pix Insight LE, finished in PSCS3 and Noels Actions.

That's a cracking capture. You know the image is deep when you can see the brown nebulosity as well as the blue stuff.

what advantages do this non linear stretch have over others?

I hear it accentuates star colours
