A zoom eyepiece from Gaz when I brought my scope from him.... It's awesome! Means I can start wide-field, find it, then gradually zoom in, keeping the object centred the whole time, all without changing eyepieces, genius! It's 7mm-21mm and I love it!

Just to be different. 9mm Ortho (& barlow) for DS observing.

Any reason why you don't use a 4 or a 5 un Barlowed?

I can think of a reason. But why an Ortho for DS?

An ortho is good 'whenever' you want extra sharpness/contrast/colour. It is only the FOV that can be 'difficult'.

Gaz your are correct in my universe DS stands for Double Star not Deep Sky .

The reason I use the 9 + barlow is that the 2 levels of magnification I get with the newt are x133 & x266 which are ideal for medium to tight doublesand the Barlow gives me more combinations than the single high power eyepiece.

Cheers
