Thanks for the alert, nytecam. It is truly wonderful. And would I be right in thinking that there's a hint of the plasma curving back down to the limb? Will try to keep watching (while dealing with the necessities of terrestrial life!).

The rest of the limb is quieter than yesterday but the active regions are keeping up their side of the show, too.

Edit: No, it's not drifting back down but floating off into space. Must be one of the quickest changing proms I've seen.

WOW just had a look during tea break absolutely huge grab a couple of hasty AVI's as well. Probably the biggest I have seen yet.

I think I'm starting to see what the 'fuss' is about sun watching I'd set up to take some more baby steps with imaging (which I think went okay).  I should have just sat back and watched the show, 30 minutes later it was much reduced.

H-alpha narrow band as incorporated in Coronado/ Lunt etc specialised solar scopes - it's a world away from 'white-light' :-)

Thanks, it looks very different to what H-alpha normally looks like,  is it because it need a much greater exposure for the proms that the surface doesn't show detail?

You can see a lot more than shown visually but images tend to be composites with surface and prom detail at different exposures.

Colour cameras don't react well to solar Ha imaging, monochrome is the way forward.
