Lesoot
Good morning, Bore DaI'm new to all this astronomy/astrophotography. I have a Celestron astromaster 70az telescope. No additional lenses as of yet (that's where advice from you guys and gals come in ) lolI have taken some good shots of the moon via my iphone (just pointing the camera at the lens gets a good picture)I also have a canon eos400d camera which I will be looking to hook up to the telescope.I have a few questions for you all (I hope you don't mind)What planets can expect to see via this telescope ?What lenses do i need to see further away ?what do I need to connect my camera up to the telescope ?ummm that's it for now, I think lolThanks in advance!! michael.h.f.wilkinson
Welcome to SGL. You should be able to see all planets except (dwarf planet) Pluto. The detail you can see on Uranus and Neptune will not be great (not great in my 8" scope either), but their distinctive blue-green colour should be visible. The major cloud belts of Jupiter and rings of Saturn are also well within reach. Attaching a camera to the scope requires a T-adapter for yoyr scope, and a T-ring for Canon EOS. Note that given the nature of the mount the scope is best for lunar and solar imaging (with a solar filter!!!).To look further away all you need is to use a low magnification, and point it to the Andromeda Galaxy.Maybe you can list what eyepieces you have, that makes it easier to give advice.
