I have spent 40 years in the wilderness without a telescope, rather like Moses minus the crowd. My last instrument was a 4 inch Unitron Refractor, sold in 1975 to help fund my young families needs! But now I'm back, and although I have kept my interest in astronomy and space science in general over the years my desire to be "hands on" at the end of a scope has never left me.

But things really have changed! Choice is no longer restricted to 4 inch refractors and 6 inch reflectors on manual mounts, and with a little spare cash to spend it is a buzz. So here I am waiting for my 115 APO on an EQ6 to start with and to start exploring (once again) these southern skies...

Hi Brian and welcome to the lounge,

your location must be perfect for observing, dark sky's are hard to

come by here, to many big cities close by, first time I ever saw

the Milky Way properly was near Ayers Rock, it went from

horizon to horizon, I'll never forget it.

Good Luck and Clear Sky's
