Hi,

I'm a newbie and live in Nilai, Negeri Sembilan. Own a decent Celestron 10x50 binoculars. Been watching the sky with my own naked eyes for years but recently started to invest in astronomy. Experts suggest that i started off with a decent binoculars first because it's cheap and i can learn more about the sky and was happy i bought it. Was amaze with the amounts of low magnitude stars suddenly pops out when i use them.

Any good spots to stargaze near Nilai? The light pollution is not that bad here but not satisfied. LOL :p

Welcome to SGL - Glad that you found us. Sounds like you received some good advice about getting a pair of binoculars

Can't help you with dark spots in Malaysia - I'm stuck in Europe I'm afraid!

Look forward to seeing you around

Welcome to SGL.

Binocularsa are good not just for starting but for all widefield sweeps and learning the skies. There are some folk who only use binoculars.

The humidity will also affect your seeing conditions in Malaysia.

Have a look at http://binocularsky.com/, dedicated to binocular astronomers.

First time to know such tips. How does humidity affects my seeing conditions? Yeah, it's pretty humid here in Malaysia.
