Cant advise what to buy,but would love to see a picture of your old Refractor.

I love refractor scopes,especially the older long focal length Achromats.

They are superb scopes.

Total about £100 and you will be as warm as toast if you wear them under your usual clothes.

I fell asleep in my shed last year, inbetween observations, wearing this gear and it was very cold indeed, I didn't wake up dead

I agree with getting something warm but I'd get a good down jacket/coat, hunt around online and see if you can pick up a bargain.

Maybe i should have stated something for the scope,observing, eyepieces ect dont need any more warm clothes and i have ate that many pringles i have gone of them .
