Things to bring with you for going to dark site?

I'm planning to do my first visit to a dark site, would like to get help of your experienced folks.

Scope, EPs, mount, battery, Maps, todo-list, a chair are what I've come up with.

That's a longer trip than I've in mind , I'm targeting to somewhere 40-50 Km away, reasonablly dark according to google map.

Don't stargaze with a rumbling stomach.

I always use some flourescent tent pegs.

Usually to mark where I've put my bottle of port......well at star camps anyway

But they can be handy if it's really dark and you're laying out dark cases or bags.

I like listening to a bit of music whilst observing... a bit of Carmina Burrana O Fortuna goes down a treat whilst pondering the wonders of the universe!

insect repellant, if you are going somewhere remote take a back up torch with you

mobile phone in case of need. tell someone where you are going and when due back

I've made my trip, took all the advices about the stuffs to bring with, just forgot to buy a few things, like shotgun, baseball bat or cuddy toy

No need to buy weapons. A Barry Manilow CD is all you need.... not to play while observing, but if you think there's an intruder lurking nearby just blast it out of the car stereo and they'll run a mile. I've heard it works with most wild animals too, including bears.

My essential is not astronomy equipment, its my camp cooker.

I cant abide coffee out of a flask, it's vile tasting and should be outlawed. I bought a camp cooker that easily fits in the car boot.

There is nothing better than making a good cup whilst your there. Oh yeah! I almost forgot my little camp cooker also does toast... Bonus!!!!

The fact that you've made it back alive suggests to me that you didn't this arsenal of more or less lethal weapons .
