Comet Holmes in stunning 3D

Recommended Posts

Just what the title says. When you have the image below open, cross your eyes so that your left eye looks at the right hand comet image and vice versa. At some point the two images should merge giving a 3D view.

It works because the two images were taken an hour apart and the comet moved with respect to the stars. I can't for the life of me get the comet to look like its in front of the stars though.

Ha ha, I used to create synthetic stereograms with some math software and developed the knack back in the 90s. I can certainly get the images to merge but there's not much 3d-ness in there, I think. Why don't you post a version with the panes swapped round?
