  1. Pity it is that weekend Mike. I am up in rural Perthshire at my astro soc's dark skies weekend. I hope that you and I both get clear skies that weekend. See you at the next CSP or Kielder. Tom
  2. The weather forecast is set good for you guys tomorrow night. Wish I was down there with you, but will see many of you at Galloway or Kielder. Feeling relieved but quietly pleased with the referendum result, so will celebrate with a wee glass of wine or two. To those of my friends that were of a different political view to me, I sympathise with your unhappiness and hope that the animosity I have witnessed (not from you) in Scotland can heal and we can all move forward in a positive manner. Anne and I will be in Windermere next week, so I will take down a wee 'scope and the camera : ) Clear skies Tom
  3. Dear Nina and Mike (I texted you as well Nina), Anne and I go on holiday next week, so it seemed a bit much for me to be away just as we need to pack etc. I hope the weather is kind and will see many of you at Galloway. Best wishes, Tom
  4. Mike, let me know if you need anything in the way of food. Could you stomach my lentil and tomato soup again (or was last time enough for anyone)? Tom
  5. I still haven't booked a pitch yet as I am unsure about attending - the lack of a local takeaway/restaurant is a real pain and I hate cooking out of a tent. I wont need an electric hook up, so I can probably leave it a little longer before I decide. feeling really torn about whether to book or not, as the skies can be great there. I will have a wee think about it whilst at CSP11 in 10 -12 days time, then decide. Tom
  6. Japanese "Malt" was interesting when I tried it a few CSPs ago Phil. But Dalwhinnie would be really good!
  7. Hmm .... that reminds me, must check the price of a bottle of Jura. Or ..... could bring a bottle of Balvenie, there is one in the house.
  8. Hi Nina, thanks for the text. I will be there from the Friday afternoon through to the Sunday. I might manage through to the Monday, but can't confirm yet. We can decide food later, but I will bring something. Did Cameron beat you at squash then? Tom x
  9. Sorry I missed CSP10 guys. I expect everyone had a great time (we always do). Let me know when the next one is and I will be down. Unfortunately the meeting in Glasgow that I had to attend on Saturday afternoon got cancelled that morning - a bit late for me to change plans - GRRR! Still, there is always CSP11. Have a good Summer. Tom
  10. Dear Mike and Nina, Something has just come up that means I need to be in Glasgow next Saturday. Unfortunately that clashes with CSP10 and so i will be unable to attend. Pity, as it is always enjoyable and I was looking forward to catching up with everyone.. I hope the weather is kind (even though I will be grinding my teeth at missing it). Tom
  11. Hmm .... I wonder if I can get a wee hill walk in on the Saturday? Great Gable or something around Coniston would be nice - weather permitting. Tom
  12. Count me in - I will see if i can get down on the Friday PM. I will bring 'scope, bike and beers/Malt. Looking forward to seeing chums old and new. Mike - shall we organise food or just go for "pot luck"? Tom
  13. Unfortunately i wont make this one (Grrr!). I already have two astro weekends next month and a third is pushing it. I will be along to the autumn one though. I hope you all have a great weekend though guys. Clear skies Tom
  14. Must try to get to this. Am already away for two astro weekends that month, so Anne may not accept a third. Tom
  15. Just back after two nights at Galloway Star camp. A good crowd as ever, with clear skies on Thursday night (a bit murky last night, but still got some nice double stars and DSO's). Superb transit of Jupiter (Ganymede) about 1am on Friday morning. Observed through a 14" Flextube GOTO, and compared a 7mm Genuine Baader Ortho (prety good), 7mm Nagler (a bit more definition and colour) and a 7mm Pentax (more colour and slightly more detail again). Dave, John, Steve and I all enjoyed the little experiment, but were dismayed that we might now have to buy a 7mm Pentax! Saw comet Lovejoy (but too sleepy at 5am to catch ISON). I left at lunchtime today, as the BBC news suggested poor weather tonight, but from what I see of the sky from Glasgow, I may have made a mistake. I hope you all get a great night's observing. David, Pete and Martin - I packed my Highland park away, just in case it evaporated tonight : )) Tom
