Hello all,

Just joined the forum having read a fair bit as a guest. Newcomer to astronomy really, have had a skywatcher explorer 130P for about a year and am now getting a little bit of time to start using it. Looking forward to the inevitable upgrades etc.

Hello Alan and welcome to the SGL.

You have a good size scope to start with that will show you many deep space objects (DSOs) once you know where to look for them. To help you get started, a planisphere will help in locating the easier objects. A monthly planisphere can be printed out (free) for using outdoors at the following link:
