Is there no rules in ebay to stop people putting things on at a stupidly high over inflated price?

no.

Ebay is an auction site, so people pay what they think an item is worth. That's why one should be careful when shopping on ebay.

For example, how much does a old yellow vase worth. For me I wouldn't pay a tenner for one, but some people are willing to spend millions.

I think if someone buy that scope and find they can't see pluto, they will be entitle to claim their money back through buyer protection, because it the item is not as described.

Good idea. Now we will see if they are just misguided or out to intentionally rip people off.

A fraud or some complete beginner who was conned. I am leaning toward the former.

But, some people believe in astrology and some people can mistake Jupiter for the North Star even though it's not in the North. May be this daisy04... just somehow to convinced herself what ever she saw was Pluto.

There is enough similar looking junk on ebay for a lot less.

Far Vision InPro Astronomical Telescope (Model 70060) Hardly used! | eBay

CELESTRON POWERSEEKER 660 TELESCOPE NEW BARGAIN! | eBay

Reflector Telescope 262 Power, Science Tech | eBay

I'm not worried anyone will be dumb enough to part with that much cash with out doing a bit of research before hand.

Hi,

As a alternative guess I'd say it was the son who's trying to sell this, frapping his Mum's ebay account to do it.... Hence having no idea how much such a telescope would really cost, and the ****-poor grammar! :(

Best Wishes
