Greetings from South Devon Dark Skies

Hi All,

I have just joined the SGL site as it looks great.

I've always been interested in the night sky but took up the hobby seriously 2 years ago. I started out with a modest Skywatcher Mercury 707 & a pair of 10x50 binoculars. I inspired a buddy to get back into stargazing as well & we've been progressing pretty well since (I hope).

I live near Dartmoor national Park so as you can imagine this is great for those really really dark skies!

In June I upgraded to a Celestron Nextstar 127 SLT Mak & I'm really looking forward to some clear autumn evening sessions with my new gear & accessories.

Jupiter is already looking awesome - what would you suggest is the best colour (eyepiece) for bringing out the best visual observing of Jupiter?

Hi Vofa and welcome to the forum

Went camping in Dartmoor and yes, those are DARK skies. However observing wasn't as relaxing as I thought it would be as those ponies don't half make a racket at night - nearly frightened me to death

Clear skies

James
