Apologies for the stupid question, but even though the exposure is for 45 seconds, how long does the satellite take to get from left to right? I'm interested to know if i've seen them before. Which i think i have :)

Marc, no such thing :)... The Iridium's run North-South, and the flare itself takes about 20 seconds... I'd previously used only 30 second exposures, but I wanted longer to capture a decent lead in and lead out trail, as it was very clear, so quickly flipped the camera to bulb...
