  1. It won't be back in NINA any time soon as that module caused an error which is why it was dropped. It works ok in the GSS tool though although it did hang on me a couple of times there too so I don't bother with it now.
  2. I've been using it and no bother at all. I will have definitely had EQMOD there when i first tried it and it may well still be there now but I'd have tio check....
  3. Speaking of lessons learned, I learned to keep my mouth shut and not say that I didn't think the issue would be NINA. Mind you I just ignored my own lesson so we know what will happen now 🙂
  4. Yes it's a great tool and although I do have a view my polar scope hasn't seen the light of day, or dark of night, since I started using TPPA. Just in case you didn't spot it in my first message unless you want to keep taking images/start tracking where the PA finishes then as soon as you do slew to a target NINA will fire up tracking automatically.
  5. In fact here are the plugin settings that you might need to change to suit you, the stop tracking option at the bottom.
  6. I think tracking being off is the default setting and as I understand it if you then slew to a target tracking is reenabled. I'd need to fire it up and try but I think that's the default. I also think you can turn tracking on if you want it running after TPPA.
  7. I've never used it but I've seen plenty of comments on the NINA discord about Synscan being an issue, if not the issue. Any chance you can try running it all without it?
  8. This is a great image but to answer your question on sub length then, for me at least, I would say storage and processing of 1800 subs would be the downside. I would still end up with 3 hours of data just fewer subs to deal with and yeah I get the issues of losing longer subs, the need for guiding etc etc so I'm only really comparing the pros and cons of sub length - if you see what I mean....
  9. It's normal and I "think" it's the EQMOD implementation that's reversed. There is a button in NINA to reverse it if you want them to go the same way. Doesn't affect automated slews etc though, they work correctly regardless, just the manual moves that are different if you see what I mean.
  10. Most of the info above gives you what you need but yes TPPA "physically" aligns your mount based on you telling it where you are, time, date etc. . Once the mount is polar aligned you then need to have the mount start from the known position I mentioned. This is usually the "Home" position pointing at the NCP as you say. Now we have two things, 1 the mount is physically aligned and 2. The mount "knows" where it is as you have set it to the home position or indeed any position* that you told it about but usually Home/NCP.... Now you can slew to M13, say, and because the mount knows where it is and because it's aligned it just moves however it needs to move to get to the known coordinates of M13. As said above if all is well it'll only be out by a bit and then the plat solving will do the comparisons and move the mount until it's pointing exactly with M13 in the centre. Hope that ll makes sense, it did to me at least and also as you know you can do all of this in NINA BUT you do need ASTAP setting up with its database and you also need to tell NINA to use ASTAP for solving. *GSServer for example can be configured with various positions, in fact the "Home" position can be anywhere but GSS knows this so knows where it is and therefore where it needs to go to get to the object that's been asked about. I'm not quite sure about EQMOD and that "may" need you to start from the typical home position.
  11. Well I see you have the man himself helping you on Discord so you should be getting all the right info 🙂
  12. Sorry only just saw this again. I assume your calibration is completing just fine? Did you try running the guiding assistant and going with its recommendations?
  13. Nope, assuming everything is configured correctly you should not be far off but you'll most likely need to plate solve to be bang on as you say. When I do it the first slew has the object in the frame but not necessarily centred as I need it. Oh of course this all assumes that the scope is in a known position once TPPA is completed and before the slew. Of course it'll be miles off if the scope is pointing randomly to start with 🙂
  14. Well, among config options blah, blah then Plugins 🙂 Struggling to remember but even if they were in v1 there are plenty that would not be v1 compatible
  15. What about doing some mosaics, won't cost anything but time and yes I know someone will mention clear nights 🙂 🙂
  16. You should have mentioned the home made adapter as I'm sure everyone would have asked you to try and eliminate that first....
  17. No issues here with my AZ-EQ6 either, I checked my logs and I always see the Park command being sent and completed in the NINA log. Do you want to post your sequence just in case there's anything odd in there. Oh btw I don't use EQMOD as I use GSS instead.
  18. I would agree with this, my point if it was missed, was that the manufacturer said don't open it so to then suggest it's hard to open and maintain would probably get a response along the lines of "well we did say not to do it". I totally get that most on here are capable and may well want to do it but would have to accept that the manufacturer hasn't necessarily made it (or needed to make it) easy to do so. I also agree that the info should be made available to all that want to do it.....
  19. Whether you want to or not is one thing but would the manufacturer say they do not intend for it to be opened up? The manual does say there are no user seviceable parts inside and if anything is needed you should contact tech support. It also says do not disassemble.
  20. Doesn't look like he's been on here for over two years so you could be waiting some time 🙂
  21. Depends on lots of things but to start with you haven't even said if you have a mono or colour camera.
  22. If you could gather all the photons together that the 90 second image contains then you would see a difference for sure but our eyes cannot/don't do that. It's one of the reasons I stopped "looking" as my low light vision is rubbish 🙂 🙂
  23. Well I suppose I'm to blame and should have put my term in quotes. My intention was to suggest a view taken from outside the hobby as to its relevance versus "humanity saving" projects. Another tongue in cheek comment though 🙂
  24. Harsh reality but taking pretty pictures versus the proposed benefits is never going to cut any ice with non astronomers never mind governments etc. I mean we can't even agree on things that folk do recognise as affecting the planet/people/universe let alone on things they cannot......
  25. How far is it to the shed from the nearest power socket? I realise you said you don't want to lay anything yet but even an extension that you roll out each time would eliminate any/all issues re solar, battery etc etc.
