  1. I sometimes see differences pre and post flip but have always put it down to balance, seeing etc. As long as the guiding is around half the image scale then you'll be fine regardless. Mine is 2.51"/pixel and even when my guiding goes awry and is 1.5 plus I still get roundish stars. Re your calibration it reads like you did it at the Zenith which you should not do so that might be contributing. If you did it at or near the equator then you can ignore me.
  2. No worries but you can install GSS and then select that option in the app versus using EQMOD so you shouldn't need to do any major changes or anything. If it's not for you then just reverse the selection.
  3. I'd have to agree with you, on the face of it a pretty poor image to use to show the benefits of a new tool. Having said the the poster hasn't been back since they put this up there so we may not get an answer....
  4. Just saw this and would agree that removing the limits is papering over the issue. As an aside I, and many others, have no issues with limits and mount drops. I know @Stuart1971 has been posting there today about the relative merits of GSS over EQMOD but is that maybe something you could try to get things working? I also use GSS by the way and have no issues at all.
  5. I mix and match all the time. Plenty of times I'll measure something and say it's 150mm by 31/2 inches....
  6. I'm going to stick my neck out and say no way that looks big enough to be M11 🙂
  7. In the interest of balance I use NINA. I did try APT once but couldn't get on with the interface. 🙂 On a more serious note what was the issue with the flips as I can say I've never had an issue either using the built in method or the plugin. I'm now using the Nightly 3.0 (not recommended for operational use disclaimer....) and still no issues
  8. You can use the Add Custom option in WBPP and then just give the files a filter name of your choosing, say UVIR for example. That will then override what is in the FITS header and they'll be combined as you want. Edit, if I'd looked there first I'd have seen you got the answer on the PI forum anyway 🙂
  9. Fundamentally I couldn't possibly argue with this sentiment but how, who, what, where would this happen? I mean we can't even get a few hundred folk in Westminster to agree on anything much less something that would benefit the world.... Edit - I suppose Elon could give Greta the money????
  10. I would assume due to lower gravity and a lot less weight to lift it will be far less important
  11. Well because it was a test flight, plus as far as I understand it from the commentary it was destroyed "on purpose" as I guess they knew at that point they had as much data as they could get from it.
  12. I could see this as a take anywhere, anytime setup. Visiting friends, family, weekend away it seems like a load less aggravation (and cost) than even a "mobile" setup.
  13. Very true, I've always loved light nights and before getting interested in astrophotography I used to dread them ending. Now there is a reason so all is good 🙂
  14. Sort of same, looks ok at first glance but then it's just small patches amongst clouds and even that doesn't last.
  15. Nice image but more importantly where is everyone getting these clear nights from as I'm not seeing them here 🙂
  16. Yes you can run CUDA for the *terminator tools. Bit of config work needed but yes they're part of the 1% (made up number) I was on about. Even so you probably don't need a 4090 just for that.
  17. Much as you probably have found, it's WBPP, for example, that can take ages. I now run that for a laugh it's so fast. What would have taken, 5,6,7 or more hours are now done in under 20 minutes. Add on the caching and it's no issue to add a few more files or even change settings. GPU not involved no matter what you have 🙂
  18. Okey dokey but you do realise that 99% of PI won't use the GPU? I have an AMD GPU in my machine (not part of the sub £2k cost btw) which doesn't get used by 100% of PI but my machine absolutely flies. Even the bits like Starnet that would use an Nvidia GPU are still blazingly fast. Just a thought as a 4090 will be adding a load to the price I'd have thought.
  19. Ah ok, must admit I didn't think laptop... That's a good spec though and includes a 4090 😍 Hope you're a gamer too :-)
  20. As an aside I built a 7950x based machine a couple of months ago and even though I went overboard on cooling, case and power it still cost me under £2k. I could have got away with a cheaper MB too. Over £3k, must be a decent bit of kit, what's the spec?
  21. Old post plus they've not visited the site for over 2 years 🙂
  22. Agreed and in the absence of any other info I'd have been suggesting it was hitting the wall.... Of course I am assuming that's just an optical illusion 🙂
  23. They are the colour coding for each filter. Close your eyes and mix them up and you'll be glad of them. Ask me how I know 🙂 Classification of HSO rimless lenses - ANTLIA ASTRONOMY FILTER (antliafilter.com)
  24. I was hoping you wouldn't say video but you just had to didn't you 🙂 🙂
